Chris Chapel’s passion at ORBC is to show his brothers and sisters in Christ that worship is much more than just singing songs. He wants to help you find the unique ways God has gifted you to point others back to Him. His deep desire is to help you offer yourself as a living sacrifice, which is your spiritual act of worship (Romans 12), and have a place to minister your gifts to others.
Pastor Chris carries ORBC’s passion for family into the Worship and Creative Arts Ministry. He envisions a place where people of all ages and abilities can not only be ministered to but also minister to others through the gifts God has given them. Chris’ focus in all artistic avenues is that, “We proclaim Him so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” Colossians 1:28
The purpose of the Worship & Creative Arts Ministry at ORBC is to point people to the fullness of Christ through music and the arts. Chris sums it up with the words of Paul: “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.” Colossians 2:2
Chris cannot believe he gets to wake up every day and be paid for a job that combines his love for the Lord with his gifts in the arts. His favorite verse is Ephesians 3:20 “God is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” In his free time, Chris enjoys mountain biking, golf, and hanging with his family. One little-known fact about him is that he once taught English and music for the royal family of Thailand!
Pastor Chris has a Bachelor of Music in Church Music from Baylor University and a Master of Music in Worship and Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served 15 years in worship ministry and served two years as a Choir/Music teacher in Fort Worth ISD.
