Jake Rhoton has been involved in ministry since he was a freshman in college and has a special heart for reaching students with the Gospel in a way that applies to their world today. He strives to be there for the students whenever they need him and cannot wait to meet each and every student.
Jake graduated in December 2016 with a BS in Christian Studies as well as his first Masters degree in Student Ministry from Dallas Baptist University. He graduated with his second, an MA in Theology, in May of 2017.
ORBC Student Ministry has Sunday school, Student University (Sunday evenings), Wednesday Night Worship, the SHOW (Summer Wednesday nights) and summer mission opportunities. This ministry is one that not only reaches the lost and brings them into the Kingdom of God but also showers people with the love of God. He believes ministry doesn’t stop there. Helping to shape students into the image of Christ and living life with them is the true heart of ORBC Student ministry. Our goal is to equip the students with the tools, as well as the example, to imitate the ministry of Jesus to the rest of the world.
In his spare time, Jake enjoys spending time with his wife, playing sports, hunting, and various athletic activities. The quote that most defines his philosophy on life comes from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.” His favorite Bible verse is 1 John 4:8, “The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
