Happy New Years from Oak Ridge Baptist Church!

by | Dec 28, 2017 | News & Events

Another year has flown by again! We are one step closer to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. As 2017 comes to a close, it’s good to reflect on all this year has taught us.  What has the Lord brought in our path and what has He done in and around us? With that in mind, here’s a look at 2017 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church:

The Key to Contentment. Jesus talked about money more than almost anything else. 1 out of every 10 verses in the four Gospels deal directly with money. The Bible as a whole offers more than 2,000 verses on money and possessions. We talk an awful lot about prayer and faith, but get squeamish with the topic of money. Why is that? Did you know the Bible has only 500 verses on prayer and less than 500 on faith? Hebrews 13:5-6 warns us against “the love of money”, instructing us to be content with what we have. How is that going?

Content and the Love of Money

Advice from the Wise and Seasoned. When you’re young, it seems as though life will never end, but the truth is, life is short. This life is a blip in the annals of history, a nanosecond in the timeline of God’s plan. The older you get, the shorter life seems. The seasons of life have a funny way of changing your perspective. Young people, what advice do you think the future you would give yourself today if you could?

Seasons of Life: Don’t Let it Slip By

Discipleship Essentials. With the Great Commission, Jesus Himself directs us to go and make disciples of the nations and baptize them in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All too often we apply this verse to evangelism or simply telling others about Jesus. However, though a disciple can’t be made without hearing about Jesus, telling someone about Jesus does not a disciple make. The question, then, is what is discipleship? And what discipleship opportunities does Oak Ridge Baptist Church offer?

3 Essential Keys to Discipleship

2017 has been and exciting year in our church body. We couldn’t ask for a better family to serve with and are excited to see all God will bring for us in 2018.  God is near and all His best is yet to come. Here’s to a happy and safe New Year’s Eve and a 2018 full of blessings, hope, and encouragement. Happy New Year!
