Giving God Priority
The holiday season brings with it constant activity and requirements, and as we come down from a post-Christmas rush, it’s too easy to forget what’s really important. In 2020, give God the prominence and attention He deserves in your life. There’s nothing more important than your relationship with God–don’t neglect it this year!
Showing Love
Love gets a lot of attention from both Christian and secular perspectives. But how much love do we actually show to others? More importantly, how much love do we show to those that it’s tough to love? As Jesus pointed out, “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.” (Luke 6:32) As we go into the new year, work on showing love and empathy toward everyone–not just those who agree with you on everything or who respond kindly.
Find Ways to Honor God
Honoring God is not restricted to going to church or doing charitable deeds. A very convincing case can be made for honoring God in less traditional ways. For instance, taking part in a litter clean-up or even just picking up trash when you see it respects God’s command to take care of the earth. Alternatively, simply finding productive ways to spend your time (such as making crafts or practicing music) may not have a Bible verse to back them up, but they do show a willingness to make the most of the time God has given you. In 2020, find everyday ways to honor God with whatever you do.
Pro Tip: There are many ways to honor God. Find something productive that you enjoy doing and that benefits others to use your time wisely this year.
