Getting #ORBCFIT: Faithful, Inspired, Transformed

by | Jan 24, 2017 | Christian Living

2017 just kicked into gear and if you are like many people, you set new goals at the beginning of the year in the form of New Year resolutions. One of the most common resolutions made year after year is to get back into shape. Well, friends, Oak Ridge Baptist Church invites you to get FIT with us this year! Instead of losing weight or building muscle, however, we will be encouraging each other toward spiritual fitness. Consider Hebrews 20:24-25 (NASB) “And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

#ORBCFIT: The Lowdown

We are excited to have you join us in our journey to be Faithful, Inspired, and Transformed this year. Think about this. If you were to accomplish your goal to become more physically fit, you would have to first be Faithful to a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. Changes in your body would then Inspire you to keep going through to the end, continuing to invest whatever time and effort necessary until you are finally Transformed into a healthier, more fit you. This would require a lifestyle change, not a fad diet or temporary exercise regimen.

In like manner, we will take a look this year at what it means to be:

  1. Faithful in the little things. This is about being faithful day by day, moment by moment. Every aspect of our lives is a proving ground for our faithfulness to God. We will explore week by week what this looks like in different aspects of our daily living.
  2. Inspired by Christ and others who have stood strong in faith through difficult times. Christ is our ultimate inspiration in His obedience even unto death on the cross. We can also find inspiration in the stories of others who have remained faithful through the darkest, most dire times of opposition. Come and let’s draw inspiration together.
  3. Transformed into the image of Christ. He is our ultimate destination. His call is a call to a complete lifestyle change, a change that begins in our deepest heart of hearts and flows out to every aspect of our lives. This is no fad Christian event or temporary Bible plan. Join us as we journey closer to the image of Christ.
