The next fruit of the Spirit we want to talk about is peace. This attribute is part of what allows us to grow in our faith and show Jesus’ love to others. How do we maintain peace in our life so that we can be closer to Christ? Let’s talk about this a little deeper.
Peace as we know it is a state where you are free from disturbance and tranquil. For Christians, peace is a form of freedom that God can provide. This allows us to be calm in our thoughts and actions, and it opens the doors for other fruits of the Spirit to grow in us. While peace is something that comes in time, it takes discipline to practice.
How do we maintain peace in our lives? Let’s discuss what peace is, how it affects our lives, and what we can do to practice it. Share on XWhat is Peace?
As we said earlier, peace is a state of tranquility or freedom from disturbance. The truth is life is full of disturbances, so how do stay free of them? The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:11 that “They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.”
That means peace is something we need to seek. Other parts of the Bible say we need to think about what is excellent and praiseworthy in Philippians 4:8. If peace is something to work for, then what are the benefits of seeking it?
How Peace Affects Us
Peace allows you to run your life with an open mind as well as an open heart. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” With the Lord’s peace, we can foster trust, thankfulness, and other fruits of the Spirit in our lives.
Maintain Peace With These Tips
So how do we maintain peace? A lot of it comes from how we conduct ourselves when interacting with others. Simple ways to maintain peace with others around you are to listen to your loved ones with the intent to understand, meditate on the Word, and love your neighbor.
These things take practice, but they help you cultivate peace in your life.
