7 Spectacular Reasons to be Thankful as Believers

by | Nov 15, 2017 | Faith

This is the time of year we pause again and think about everything we have to be thankful for. It’s easy to gloss over it and just enjoy the food, family, and fun, but take a moment this year and connect with God. Let Him fill your heart with His love and make Himself known to you in a new way.

Reasons to be Thankful This Thanksgiving

There is so much to be thankful for as a believer in Christ. This list barely scratches the surface. You know and are known by the only Living God and He lives His life in you. How can you even begin to thank Him for all He has done, is doing, and will do? Use this list to get started, but let God show you the reasons you have to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

1) God is good.

Our God is good. All good things come from Him. The very word ‘good’ is defined by who He is. You can rest and be still in every moment because God is good and He has you in His hands.

2) He gives you peace.

Jesus said He gives us His unshakable peace. You are at peace with God because you have been reconciled and He will continue to give you peace as you follow Him in this world. His peace is not dependent on circumstance, feeling, or effort, but wholly dependent on Who He is. As such, it cannot be taken away.

3) Your sins are forgiven.

All your sin, past, present, and future, has been forgiven the moment you believe. You have been made right with God, brought into His family, and He no longer sees or remembers your sin. When He sees you, He sees His beloved Son.

4) You have His Word.

You have the actual Word of the Living God in your hands. There may be several copies on the bookshelf and a Bible app or two on your device of choice. You can read it anytime, all the time, and anywhere. Not only that, but you have endless resources available to you online for bible study, interpretation, and devotions.

5) You are a part of the body.

You are connected to the body of Christ. In fact, you are a vital member and you are in community with other vital members. You don’t have to do it alone. As a community, you can honor Christ and join together to complete His work.

6) Salvation is a gift.

There is absolutely nothing you could ever do to earn or keep your salvation. Your efforts will always fall short. It’s not your work! All you have to do is believe and God gives you the free gift of salvation. The quality of the relationship you have with God may fluctuate based on your decisions, behavior, and habits, but your salvation is a gift from God.

7) You are secure.

You could never merit or earn your salvation and you likewise could never do enough to keep it. If you believe Jesus died in your place and you have been reconciled to God, He lives in you. You have been crucified and resurrected in Christ. The old person is gone and all things are new. Nothing can separate you from the love of God.

An Ocean of Gratitude

There is no end to the life and gifts He has given us, is giving us, and will give us. There is no end to our reasons be thankful. His love is everlasting, unchanging, and complete. And He gives everything to us freely. We may never fully understand,

but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

God is good, my friends, lift up your hearts of gratitude to the only Living God, our Father, and be blessed this Thanksgiving.
