Are you a follower of God? If so, you are considered to be one of His disciples. Right before Jesus ascended to heaven, he met with his followers and gave this instruction: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them everything I have commanded you.” Being a disciple is more than a pursuit of knowledge. It's seeking personal transformation through God. Share on X
How to Become a Better Disciple
Discipleship goes beyond belief, forcing you to act, speak, and reach out to bring more sheep back to the fold. Here are 3 ways to become a better disciple:
1) Know The Faith
Faith is the foundation of discipleship. When the Bible talks about “the faith”, it’s referring to the gospel, or more specifically, the information that must be believed in order to be saved and have eternal life. Knowing the faith goes beyond memorized Bible verses, and requires a thorough understanding of the principles, commandments, and lessons therein.
2) Put God First
Your love and attachment to Him must be greater than any other. While husbands are commanded to love their wives, and wives their husbands, they are commanded to love the Savior more. No human relationship could be more intimate, no bond more inseparable than that of disciple and Master.
3) Abandon Selfishness
Discipleship involves making a daily effort to overcome selfish desires and ambitions. It’s a willingness to lay aside all self-seeking and selfishness. It means that our desire and ambition is not to satisfy ourselves, but to please the Savior. He should be the highest, most compelling motive of our lives.
Let’s Make Disciples
When you make yourself available to the Lord, you’re giving Him control of your future. He will become your most trusted guide, leading you to where you need to go, and when you get there, providing the right words.
