3 Life Lessons From Jesus that Non-Christians Can Benefit From Too

by | Jan 4, 2019 | Faith

When Jesus walked on earth, he was seen as an honorable man. He surrounded himself with the outcasts, the poor and the weak. He was humble and loving and he always put others first. His life on earth offers valuable lessons, even for non-Christians.

What Can Non-Christians Learn From Jesus?

Jesus Christ’s documented actions on earth are where many Christian lessons come from. However, even if you don’t follow the Christian faith, you can learn some beneficial snippets of advice by following His teachingsThe Bible is oftentimes looked at as a rule book. However, there are a ton of life lessons that believers and non-believers can learn from. Share on X

  1. Worry Less
  2. Love Triumphs All
  3. The Golden Rule

1) Worry Less

Jesus taught us to essentially stress less about the small stuff. Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-27, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” These encouraging words of wisdom can remind us that the birds are taken care of every day, but God values us more than them. Therefore, what good will worrying do? It’s so easy to get caught up in life’s worries and forget what we are blessed with.

Pro Tip: The Bible teaches us to go with the flow because worrying about things that are out of our control won’t add any more time into our lives.

2) Love Triumphs All

God’s word consistently stresses the importance of love. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” These words are powerful. They’re telling us above all, to love others. Love can triumph jealousy, arrogance, and hate. God’s love can endure all things. Whether you’re a follower of Jesus or not, love always wins.

3) The Golden Rule

We’ve all heard of the golden rule. It’s the principle to treat others the way you’d like to be treated. Basically, if you give respect, you will, in turn, be treated with respect. In Matthew Chapter 7, Verse 12, the Lord Jesus says, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”  You don’t have to be a Christian to appreciate and follow the golden rule.

Follow Him

Whether you believe that Jesus is the son of God or not, you can still learn a lot from his life on earth. He was a caring man who believed in love and kindness for everyone.
