Christianity is based on the teachings of Jesus as well as His identity as the Son of God. It is always good to have a reminder of what those teachings are. So what did Jesus teach in the Bible? Let’s dive into it together.
What did Jesus teach?
Jesus spoke on a lot of topics, but if we were, to sum up, his main message it would be summed up in Matthew 27:37-39. “And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”What did Jesus teach in the Bible, and how do we implement those teachings in our every day lives? 1) “Love God, Love Others”
As we mentioned earlier, Jesus’s teachings are best summed up in Matthew 27:37-39. In this passage of the Bible, the Pharisees asked Jesus what the great commandment in the Law was because they are trying to stump him. Instead, he summed up the law by saying love God and love others.
2) “The Golden Rule”
Many of us know that the golden rule is to do to others as you want them to do to you. Jesus spoke on this in Matthew 7:12, ““In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want [o]them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Jesus exemplified this concept throughout his life by treating the outcasts and undesirables of his society with compassion and kindness.
3) “Forgive As God Forgave You”
Jesus spoke on forgiveness in Matthew 18:21-35. This is such an important and radical part of Jesus’s teachings. Showing others forgiveness is difficult, but it is exactly the kind of love and kindness Jesus and our heavenly Father teach us.
Show God’s Love
The best way to sum up Jesus’s teaching is to live your life to show God’s Love to those who are around you. The best way to do that is to study Jesus’s life and emulate it.
